Carey is our oldest daughter. She is also Kristin's oldest sister. She is mentally handicapped and has tested an IQ of under 70. This morning she accompanied me to our weekly nursing home ministry service where she sings with other church members for the residents of the nursing home. She really enjoys it.
We stopped at a convenience store on the way to buy a cup of coffee for each of us. As we were getting back in the car, Carey remembered that she didn't give the register attendant a tract. She grabbed two. After she gave the lady a tract, she was exiting the store and a man was entering at the same time. Carey held out the second tract and he took it. When Carey got into the car I asked her what she said to him to get him to take the tract. She said, " I didn't say anything. I just handed it to him. Now it's his problem". As I laughed at her candor, I thought about how simple that was. Get some tracts. Trust the Lord. He will do the hard part.

I recently ran across an article so vile and so subtle that I had to write about it do emphasize why we must reach as many for Christ as possible. Our children and grandchildren are being attacked at the lowest ages ever. My wife Carol, always wanted a Barbie doll when she was very little. There wasn't anything that was more exciting than getting her very own Barbie doll and a bunch of outfits. Then, along came the Ken doll which setup todays latest installment into the destruction of young people.
There's a new line up with Mattel's Ken doll. Little girls can now get a doll that shows the real diversity of our country today. There are 14 options and even more with a little imagination, which many little girls have. That means that they can play with a "male" doll that wears female clothes, and makeup. They have different body types and sizes. Of course, the hairstyles are also included. So, if you are into indoctrinating little girls and probably little boys, too. This is an opportunity to do so. As a true born again believer, I must call this out. This website has always tried to stay above the fray, but this is too much to ignore. Here's the article. I won't repost it on this website because I don't want this vile information here for people to fight over. I won't even link it. If you wish to read it, copy and paste the URL . https://www.aol.com/article/lifestyle/2017/06/20/mattel-ken-barbie-diversity/22491884/ Parents beware! Who does your daughter play with and where does she sleep over? It's possible that many households will have these dolls in the four year old's bedroom. I write articles for an online website called thinkadvisor.com. It supports financial advisors. My articles are usually about prospecting for clients, but I took a chance with my last article and wrote about the challenges of losing a child and how that relates to being motivated to continue life as normal. I received some great comments and some were about Jesus Christ. That article proved that when discussing our faith with respect for the hearer, many are still receptive.
Many of you are struggling with issues of life. You may have experienced divorce, financial collapse, health emergencies, kid problems, grandkid problems or any other kind of emotional and physically draining catastrophes. It's OK. I am a goal oriented, ambitious person and losing Kristin drained me of all of that. I had to function for about an hour at a time. I refused to plan further than that. Looking too far ahead paralyzed me and I simply became dysfunctional. I've never dealt with any type of drugs including alcohol but I grew up in an alcoholic household. I pent may nights at an alcoholics meeting. I've heard the concept of narrowing your focus to the shortest time frame that is manageable. A goal that can be accomplished may be even minutes. You will naturally expand in time, but that's not the goal. 'Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof", Matthew 6:34 The Lord himself admonishes us to stay in now. Later will be cared for. i like to accomplish something every day even if it's trimming the bushes. That only takes about an hour and I'm away from people. People expect more from you than Jesus does. Live with His expectations. After all you are His and He won't mistreat His own. |
